About this handbook

A combined policy and course handbook, updated in October 2026. Part One sets out the standard every carer is held to, including how a child's devices are checked and what to do when something goes wrong online. Part Two is the course: children's online lives in 2026, nude images and sextortion, AI fake images and chatbots, birth family contact online, setting up devices, and what young people say. It works as an interactive page that remembers your progress and has a short quiz.

What it covers

  • Children's online lives in 2026
  • The four Cs: contact, conduct, content and commerce
  • Nude images and sextortion
  • AI: fake images, chatbots and companions
  • Checking and setting up devices
  • What to do when something goes wrong
